Croatia SC Vancouver is mourning the loss of one of our long-time members, Mr. Ante Tomljenovic. Born in Gospić, Croatia on January 2, 1951, he passed away on October 26, 2020.
A star Croatia SC striker in the 1970s and 80s, Ante’s heart on the field spoke for itself. Opposing teams feared him for his abilities on the field, and he never shied away from a battle.
After hanging up his cleats, Ante continued to give back to the community as a coach for both the youth and senior Croatia SC programs for over 20 years. He volunteered countless hours to the club, positively influencing the lives of many up and coming Croatian soccer players and young men. He was a tenacious and intelligent coach who wanted his teams to be tough, skilled, and dynamic.
Thank you Ante for the decades dedicated to Croatia SC Vancouver both as a player and a coach. We send our deepest condolences to Ante’s family and friends – may he rest in peace.
Visitation will be held on November 1, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. at Ocean View Funeral Home and funeral services will be held on November 2, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Croatian Parish.
