It is with sadness that we announce the passing of one of our founding members, Mr. Darko Kovarik.
Born in Bjelovar, Croatia on January 15, 1938, Darko moved to Vancouver in April 1962. This coincided with the formation of Croatia SC and he played on our original soccer team for three years.
Darko worked hard on and off the field in the early days, laying the foundation for a strong and vibrant club that has now been running for nearly 60 years. It’s pioneers like Darko that helped establish this great club and instil our mantra — as long as there is heart, there will be Croatia — for future generations to uphold.
Our sincere condolences go out to his wife, Claudia, and the rest of his family. May he rest in peace.
